POWDER COATING
Monarch uses high-quality powder coating products and expert techniques to provide attractive protective finishes in nearly every color and texture.
WHAT IS POWDER
COATING?
Powder coating is a process that can be used to apply a protective and/or decorative finish to a wide variety of items and materials. In powder coating, a powdery mix of pigments, resins, and chemicals is applied to a surface using a sprayer. Unlike traditional paint, the powder is dry. It sticks to surfaces because of its electrostatic charge. Once cured in an oven, the powder forms a strong, durable coating.
ADVANTAGES OF
POWDER COATING
-
Nearly unlimited color and texture options (including metallic, candy, hammertone, matte, gloss, and much more)
-
Resists chips, scratches, and fading better than traditional paint
-
Solvent free and better for the environment than liquid finishes
PREPARATION
First, the item or part to be coated is cleaned and prepared to promote the best possible adhesion of the powder coating. This stage may include media blasting, acid etching, sanding, pre-treatment, or primer.
APPLICATION
Next, the item is hung in a dust-free spray booth. The coating is then applied as an electrostatically charged dry powder.
CURING
Finally, the item is moved into an oven, where the powder is baked onto the surface. This process ensures a strong, uniform coating.
